Safety comes first.
ROCI follows NAR and Tripoli safety practices and works to provide a safe launch environment for flyers, volunteers, and spectators.
Know the rules before you fly.
ROCI is a NAR section and Tripoli prefecture. Club launches follow applicable NAR and Tripoli safety guidelines, along with the requirements of the launch site.
Our launch site
ROCI launches are held at AMA International Aeromodeling Center, Flying Site #1 in Muncie, Indiana. The field has a 6,000-foot AGL waiver limit for ROCI operations, and launches are conducted from the concrete RC-plane tarmac.
Rocketry at ROCI
ROCI supports model and high-power rocketry, with club operations supporting flights through K impulse. Flyers should understand the requirements that apply to their rocket, motor, certification level, and planned flight before arriving at the pad.
High-power flying
High-power flyers should hold the certification required for their planned flight and follow the applicable NAR or Tripoli rules. Certification and safety resources are linked below so flyers can review the current requirements directly from the governing organizations.
Launch-day expectations
Follow range-officer instructions, respect the active range, keep spectators and equipment in designated areas, and do not proceed with a flight when conditions or the rocket are not safe. ROCI will add its detailed club range procedures and launch-day rules here as those documents are finalized.
